Slackware is one of my favorite Linux's due to its:
1. Simplicity: Straight-forward, easy to use, unix-like, clutter-less
2. Effectiveness: Give you an example, my TV has an input option as well as my
AGP card has an TV-output option. I **never** been able to watch my desktop in
the TV with any distro. It worked like a charm in Slackware. I tried it even in
Ubuntu, but this led to more complication only.
3. Robustness: Slackware is one of the most stable distros i have ever used.
Knoppix is comparable to it.
4. Learn Basic Linux: If you run Ubuntu you'll end up learning some set of
customized commands from the Debian society, if you run Slackware you'll learn
Linux. I am grateful to Slackware for most of my Linux-learnings (as a desktop
user, not a developer).
5. Simple download and install: Download the image files, burn it, install. If
you are not happy with the packages, go to a slackware site and download them.
But you have to look for the dependencies manually. No need for a high-speed
internet connection.
6. The fastest Linux distro i have came across. Ubuntu is comparable to it (in
my machine at least).
7. Somehow, most of my experiments with Linux always _works_in_slackware.
BUT, even after all these benefits nothing could abstain me from becoming an
Ubuntu lover. :-)
