I am using intel GMA900 integrated chipset. Installing ubuntu 7.10 detects automatically the proper driver as
> intel - Experimental modesetting driver for intel integrated graphics > chipsets. > It works fine on 800x600, 1024x768 resolution. with full visualization effects. No problem But there's a little problem (for me at least) if I use resolution 1280x1024 For 17" monitor 1280x1024 is the max resolution without any tweaking. My monitor is Philips 107s6. Which is detected by 7.10 as well. The problem is, the whole desktop moves away from it's origin/center. It can be fixed by using the monitor's control button, But this isn't a solution. Well, the solution is: use i810 - Intel Integrated Graphics Chipset driver instead of that intel experimental driver. Everything works fine, with all visualization, wobble effect and stuffs. It supports all i8xx and 9xx chipsets. Peace! [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
