Regarding the workings of the cow's digestive microflora, I suppose one
can consider that something is "added to" what the animal "takes in" as
vegetative matter, and which is left after it "takes out" for nutrition,
just as one can consider that the activity of microorganisms "add to" the
vegetative matter in a vegetative compost. Thus, a vegitative compost
just might not have everything in it that manure does. As might well also
be the case vice versa.
