Frank - I just checked out this one. This is aquaponics, not hydroponics. Aquaponics was developed and popularized by the FRESHWATER INSTITUTE, which happens to be down the road from here. These plants grow in 'some sort of soil' (call it media) The downside to this particular system is that the plant tissues are high in nitrates except in the height of summer, much higher than is tolerable for children or elders. New Alchemy Institute did a lot of work on this a few years back. Freshwater has demonstrated the financial superiority of this method in marketing strawberries and basil (the strawberries they put in pyramics to the top of the greenhouse and trickle the efluent from the top down.) I didn't really read the page thoroughly: what are they doing for disease control? I guess I'm uncomfortable with the words 'biodynamic' and 'manipulated' so close together in a sentence. Thanks for the links. -Allan
