Allan, Please read this e-mail as support for your work with BDNOW!
I have been on the BD fringes for some time, having a "level" of understanding organics, and seeing BD as a method for reaching higher levels of success. My interest in BD was sparked by the comment of an organic "guru" in South Africa, the late Phina Milner (whose life work did much to promote organics in SA), who was affectionately known as "The Earthworm Lady", when she told me that BD was a load of nonsense. I have however found it very difficult to "get into" BD, especially the esoteric understanding, and the "Anthroposophical speak" - the English translations of Steiner's writings leave me in a total state of non-understanding. On the other hand, Pfeiffer's writings have always been inspirational and lead me to an understanding of BD, especially from a moree scientific view point, compared to the esoteric. I have been very dispondent, feeling that BD (in SA at least), was stale and stagnent, if not effectively dead. BDNOW! has changed that for me, with many of the discussions and responses to my own posts being a wealth of encouragement and information for me. When reading about BD some years ago, a BD friend told me that understanding organics and BD required a "quantum leap" of understanding from the purely chemical approach to agriculture. I am happy to say that discussions on BDNOW! have given me another "quantum leap" in my levels of theoretical understanding. I would classify myself as a "taker" from BDNOW! - it is providing a mechanism for my personal growth - unfortunately, my farming activities have been curtailed for various reasons. However, I have been able to pass on information (much from BDNOW!) to better farmers than myself (being a farmer requires a "different" mentality and approach to life, which I have found difficult to cultivate), who have applied this information very successfully in their organic operations. I could go on, but would rather encourage you in your work, pass a massive vote of THANKS for it, and ask you to feel assured that the good which comes from BDNOW! is in a small way being used to assist others in their endeavours in SA. The recent discussions on BRIX and Dr Ingam's contributions are two cases in point. As for being a "giver" to BDNOW!, my main area of success in my small-scale farming activities has been in the use of the Kyusei Nature Farming's Effective Micro-Organisms (EM) as developed by Dr. Teruo Higa. Given the current discussions around the soil-food-web, I would like to know how EM fits into Dr Ingam's approach - but there I go again.... (Separate post will pose this question to Dr Ingam). Finally Allan, be assured of "building riches in Heaven". Thanks Allan, keep up the good work. Stephen Barrow
