Dearest Elaine,

Please accept my apologies for not being more formal. I am but a simple
peasant farmer
and with only a mere 70 GB at my disposal and can hardly be expected to do
any "serious" downloading of research data on such a widely studied and
documented subject such
as "hardpan reduction via bacterial remediation".

A google search http://www.google.com/ yielded few results. My search
keywords were
"Ohio state" "bacteria" "hardpan".

What I would like to know is:

1) What bacterium is applied to the soil to breakup the hardpan ?

2) What medium is the carrier for the bacteria ? (water, sawdust, granules)

3) What are the equipment requirements to apply the bacteruim to the soil ?
(sprayer, spreader, field broadcaster or a cannon)

4) Which department at "THE" Ohio State University was the sponsor of the
study.
(microbiology, plant and soil chemistry, the football team)

Thank You in advance for your kind indulgence.

Scott (a simpleton with fewer degrees than a thermometer)

P.S. Being an Ohio resident and also within olfactory distance of the OSU
dairy farm, I would
be more than happy to walk down and chat with someone who knows more
about this and
pass my findings along to others on this list, IF one would be kind
enough to put me in contact
        with the appropriate parties.
