as a fellow Microsoft minimalist, I agree, the less Microsoft software the better.

If in doubt, dump it, then empty the trash bin, I agree.

To stop your computer polluting other computers, simply add an address to your email
address file of AAAA or 11111 or some such and when the virus tries to send to other
computers, your software will stop and ask you to put in a valid address, thus allowing
you to find and delete the virus, before loading it on all your contacts computers.
