Subject: border crops for beneficials in corn, soybean It was found that predator numbers were higher
when corn and soybean fields were bordered by woodlots or a woodlot and a
clover field. Weeds such as velvetleaf and copperleaf (Acalyph
asotryaefolia) increased populations of predators such as Orius insidiosus and
Coleomegilla maculata (lady beetle that eats aphids and insect
eggs).
