Hi there, You are so right to request prayer, and I am there.
Yesterday I went to watch my son's team play baseball, and as usual, he was on the bench. He's always on the bench. He works himself ragged at practice every day, does everything the coaches tell him to do, keeps his attitude right, but still, he watches the games from the bench. It was the same thing in football. So I'm sitting there thinking about how unfair high school sports are. Why does the team have to win? Why can't it just be a fun thing for the kids to learn, instead of so competitive? Etc. etc. After an hour I just wanted to dunk that coach's head in a toilet. So I left. I went home. I couldn't stand it. And as I approached my house, realization hit me: anger was ruling here, and nothing would change. What one true thing do I know above all other? That only love has the power to make any real change in the world. I had to love that coach. I spent a few minutes getting quiet, then I visualized Christ with that coach. Working in him, around him, through him. I saw the coach as Christ. I made a cup of tea, changed my clothes, and returned to the game just in time to see my son at bat. The game ended a few minutes later. My son told me he got to play two innings this game! I was able to encourage him in a whole new way. Yes, I am praying about the situation in Wisconsin. I will hold fast to the vision of Christ working in and through all the decision makers, including you and your wife as you seek to persuade others of the right path. We can heal this world.
