Dear NOSB members:
Please provide me with citations to the literature on which you are relying in the proposed regulation to treat compost tea like raw manure for purposes of organic certification. My practical anecdotal evidence is that there is no danger of human pathogens in using compost tea. The literature I am familiar with is clear that properly brewed tea with properly made compost does not pose any health risk. In fact using compost tea made aerobically has the potential to drastically improve health conditions by reducing the use of harmful pesticides. Yours truly, Dorothy A.
