Hi James,
I am aware of prep 500 releasing phosphorus from the soil, even to the point of
depleteing the reserves. I had an understanding that 501 related more to
magnesium and therefore would need to be used with caution in some parts of
Australia. A dairy farmer in New Zealand applied 501 without the other preps. in
the spring. He reported that his cows went like race horses and of couse race
horses are not renowned for their milk production. He got rather thin and race
horse like too. It took about three months for the effect to wear off. This was
in the lush Waikato. Therefore I would be reluctant to suggest anyone apply 501
without all the others first. I regard 501 as the icing on the cake. It is good
to have the cake ready first!!
Regards,
Peter.
