Hi Gil
Our local state forestry nursery manager (he's a good guy, knows his stuff,
experienced) tells me that the inhibitory factor comes mostly from the
actual drip of leaves onto the soil surface - thats why new stuff comes so
quickly under a tree thats just died. This makes sense - a new does of
inhibitor every time it rains and none needed between times.
