I've seen it many times and thought just about everybody knew that 
yellowjackets and bald-faced hornets are hell on flies.  Look closely and you 
can sometimes see the hornets catch their fly prey on the wing. 

Here's a link that expands on this comment: "Yellowjackets are beneficial as 
they mainly feed on other insects, especially flies."
