from Joe Lillard and the National Center for Homeopathy
West Nile Virus (WNV) is responsible for less than 100 dealths in
the U.S. since 1999 according to the Center for Disease Control
(CDC), each year in the United States 20,000 people die from
influenza (flu). Thus i feel that while WNV is serious (if you have
it) far more attention should be paid to the common influenza.
Given this I urge you to spend some time studying the homeopathic
approach to treating influenza - through this exercise you will be
armed to use very similar symptoms (rubics) should an actual case of
WNV come to your attention.
Note:
Should WNV become a more serious threat to the general public the
National Center will work to provide more in depth advise for
homeopathic treatment that would include a genus eppidemicus
(overarching remedy) should one be determined. At this point in time
there are so few cases and so little information from a homeopathic
perspective that this is virtually impossible.
West Nile Virus (encephalitis)-
Symptoms of West Nile virus - per (CDC),
Most infections are mild, and symptoms include fever,
headache, and body aches, occaionally with a skin rash on the trunk
of the body and swollen lymph glands.
More severe infection may be marked by headache, high fever, neck
stiffnes, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors convulsions, muscle
weakness, paralysis, and rarely death.
Compare to Influenza (the flu) - per CDC strickly an upper
respiraatory disease, but it's a virus and homeopthy can help the
body fight the effects of viral infections.
Influenza (the flu) attacks the repiratory tract in humans (nose,
throat and lungs).
The flu is different from a cold, the flu comes on suddenly and may
include these symptoms:
Fever, headache, tiredness (can be extreme) dry cough, sore
throat nasal congestion, and body aches.
The CDC offers the following suggestions for treatment of the flu:
Rest, drink plenty of liquids
Avoid using alcohol and tobacco
Influenza is caused by a virus, so antibioics (like penicillin) don't
work to cure it. They recommend a flu shot each Fall, before flu
season.
Whether you do that or not there is the homeopathic remedy
Influenzinum, and all the usual flu remedies including
oscillococcinum.
The CDC also WARNS - do not give aspirin to children or teenagers or
anyone (Joe adds) who have symptoms of the flu - there could be
deadly consequences.
Before getting the flu, practice looking up flu symptoms and remedies
in your books - it's easier now than when you have the flu.
WNV is found in horses and is quite serious - frequently fatal:
veterinarians who specialize in homeopathy are doing work in this
area. Perhaps a useful nosode is out there. Veterinarians
specialinzing in homeopathy can be found in the directory of the
