Reply. The real prblem is: we've had this history of big is better .The
Nathional standards Just puts a police state into what started as a grass
roots movement for human beings to connect to the earth. The problem being
that so many have already been disconnected, and the average consumer hasn't
a clue, that the wheel needs to be reinvented. In my opinion the whole csa
thing has been sabotaged. People need to connect to the earth and they can't
if it's delivered to them on a silver platter and their hands are not even
dirty. How can they get it?FResh veggies ought to be local and sustainable.
It"s good to have standards and connections for large scale crops like
grains and beans which sustains the whole movement, in fact I do support the
standards on that account. The problem as I see it is that the nathional
standard works only and perhaps well. by ensuring (maybe) That at least the
staples that we need for our lives can be supported by the broad consensus,I
know I'm glad to be able to buy and support my neighbors and get hay, grain
ect from them...... still we have a long way to go to get people connected
to the land and I think that is the opposite agenda for the standards. It is
to eliminate once again the small guy, and that is where vitality lie. the
comsumer doesn't or has been put into such tight binds by the culture that
they don't even know it. ,so there are only bigger or, just moneyed farms,
My personal problems with the standards relate to turning compost, I don't,
and the infinate endless paperwork, which doesn't work with a wholistic
household, and the fact that you are liable to be sued if you use the
word,Ogranic on your efforts and '"They "deem it that you have disobeyed
there law, even though you through your ancestrial roots and 20+years of
your life have created the movement (or at least played a bit part)That is
the insult .. that they could fine you,.,for not obeying their laws... those
who broughtto the earth chemicals, and genetic engenering. bob dylan has
already said it , but still nobody's listening . What's happening here,
we,re waiting for our neighbors to wake up. with all the love in my heart to
all you warriors of the light .....outside of having "0" market, The
person who would have to certify me, deemed folks who practice biodynamics,
as those who go out at midnight and bury things, .. Is there a way to cross
that bridge.? I'm asking God here and you all. There is a lot of fear and
ignorance, and I am one of the ignorant ones, I'm trying my best to build
bridges,:)sharon
