I was looking up another topic (chicken tunnels), and Google listed a number of tunnel and 'moat' sites. I clicked on one, (homesteading today?) I can't remember but it said 'this forum has been converted to members access only, please enter your password.' So, it is doable to change from an open forum / archives to a closed discussion group if that's really what you want to do.
