>As a reader of BDNow, I am well aware of
past criticism of Demeter certification in this forum. But the reality is that
the Demeter >label does certify some 3,000 producers in 35 countries and is
instrumental for the spread of Biodynamic agriculture in the world.
I havent noticed that much criticism of demeter
certification on this list. What gets up my nose and many others is this -[
Biodynamic ] demeter's trademarking of the word - biodynamic - is
indefensible morally, and probably under law, they rely on the idea that they
have access to more money and power than any likely challenger, so they get
away with it.
The statement that the demeter label "is
instrumental for the spread of Biodynamic agriculture in the world" is
interesting, People and organisations outside of demeter have done more to
spread biodynamics in my part of the world in the last five years than demeter
did in the previous fifty.
Can't help myself on this - the trademarking of
the word biodynamic is morally wrong.
