You will need to add references to the required assemblies. In your case System.Data.dll (and maybe System.dll as well) So the command would be VBC.Exe /target:library mycode.vb /r:System.Data.dll,System.dll If you are using any other classes in you code, then check which assemblies they are defined in and add those also in the reference list. I am not too sure about CSharp complier (csc).
