Hi
All,<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Thanks to each and everyone who has responded back to my queries. Now
let me just elaborate on the problem that I have on hand. <o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

I have an application running fine and for
all the reporting stuffs we are planning to replicate the data onto a different
database on the fly so that the production environment is not disturbed for all
the reporting purposes. <o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Now I need to think of a design for the
report server which will be just the Data Access layer and the BU Layer. The
client consuming the report server will have their own presentation layer. As
of now the client will be a web application in ASP.NET and I also need to think
of PDA, Windows application in a long run. <span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'>The report server will be on one machine and the
data base will also be on the same machine. But the client consuming this can
be on a different machine, it may not be on the intranet either. <o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

I understand that web services are the best
solution for this. I am really confused after started reading the design patterns
in .NET. There are quite a lot of design patterns except one in my <span
class=GramE>name L . Thats the reason why I wanted
expert guidance from you people to help me out in this situation. <span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'><o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Any help would be greatly appreciated. <o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Regards,<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Godan<o:p></o:p>

hi,<o:p></o:p>

 <o:p></o:p>

u can get informative knowledge on <o:p></o:p>

http://msdn.microsoft.com/practices/type/Patterns/default.asp [chapter
    5]<o:p></o:p>

this link will help u to understand the design
pattern and which one to follow.<o:p></o:p>

 <o:p></o:p>

Though im not sure and not much clear abt yr
requirement but i feel in yr case, since yr reporting server will be a host
for yr web apps or windows apps, so u can follow either Broker or Singleton
    approach.<o:p></o:p>

 <o:p></o:p>

It depends whether yr report server will be hosted
on the same or on seperate server!<o:p></o:p>
