----------------------------------------------------------- From: Mrinal Message 2 in Discussion Hi , You are very right static / shared variable retains values after post back , and different sessions share same variable , so , normally need to be used based on your need , following things u may consider : 1. Application variable is key - value based , that can be shared over application in different sessions , that is maintained at server . Can be initiated in Global.asax and also Ended out there in it's standard events . Also try to understand that Application variable can be used throughout the application , by any file ( .aspx , .aspx.cs , .ascx , ascx.cs , once it's being defined in global.asax.cs ) 2. Static variable will be comparatively Lighter , being a simple variable , it be will shared by various sessions but it can only be used for given file in which it has been declared , it can't be willfully used in any file in the project you feel like , hope it's clear , regards , Mrinal ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/BDOTNET/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
