----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on BDOTNET
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Sitaraman Message 2 in Discussion Hi If you are looking at what uniquely identifies an assembly in .Net, then it is the composition Name + Version +Culture+Public Key(in case it is strong named) This is called as the Identity of the assembly In COM , as registry was the single place which was used to store the information about the components, there was a need for an unique identifier for every component In the case of .Net as the assembly is within your app directory( in the case of private assembly), this is more a problem. In case it is Shared and available centrally in the GAC, then the requirement of the public key makes it unique. regards, sr ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/BDotNet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
