Hi Murali,

I don't think you can run a VB application run on Unix.

But you can definitely run a VB.Net application. You might be aware of ROTOR, it is
Microsoft's shared resource implementation of CLI. It's available on FreeBSD unix.
(As of now it doesn't work on non-x86 architectures.). you can read about this here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dndotnet/html/mssharsourcecli2.asp

As of now I think it comes with only C# and JScript compilers. So you cannot build a
VB.NET application here. But Jason Whittington says in this article:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/02/07/SharedSourceCLI/default.aspx

that, "It's not strictly necessary to use this compilercode compiled under other
environments will run unmodified under the Shared Source CLI (and vice versa) as long
as they don't rely on libraries that aren't shipped with the Shared Source CLI. "

So you can compile your VB.Net code on a windows platform with commercial CLR. And
then run the assembly on a FreeBSD system using "clix" tool.

HTH

Cheers
Sanjay
