Hi, I think problem is because you are trying to access that dropdownlist from
master datagriditem Dim ddlEachRating As DropDownList =
CType(e.Item.FindControl("ddlRating"), DropDownList) Instead,try this if you want to
access the dropdownlist in the first row of the child grid. Dim ddlEachRating As
DropDownList = CType(grdAgainTechRating.Items(0).FindControl("ddlRating"),
DropDownList) I hope this should work. If it doesnt, then get back. -Saravana
