The answer is you can use the "target" attribute in the <asp:ImageButton>  Tag (even 
though it is not showing it as one of the attribute)

the reason is utlimately <asp:imagebutton> parsed / converted into equivalent to  
combinations .
 you can check this by seeing the view source in IE on the particular page where you 
have used the ImageButton
hope this will help to solve the problem
