----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on BDOTNET
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Richard-Hsu Message 6 in Discussion Hi all, I am going to give a suggestion that is absolutely awesome as far as learning ASP.NET is concerned. check out http://europe.webmatrixhosting.net I'll not say anything more about this one. The credit for this information goes to Dipak Gulati (Microsoft). I have my own account the webmatrixhosting and it allows me to test everything. However, if you want to deploy a serious business web solution using ASP.NET, I suggest Brinkster (www.brinkster.com) . Believe me, I have tried a lot of Indian hosters but they don't allow/don't understand basic ASP.NET features like Bin directory deployment i.e. uploading of dll assemblies. This particular feature is absolutely critical for VS .NET development and has been lacking in all the hosters I have had a talk with. Finally, we settled for Brinkster's Premium X2 package (which may no longer be available, but others are). Here is a list of features that Brinkster's X2 hosting package provides :- 1) Only MS Access database support. Cannot upgrade to SQL Server. But this is good enough for my requirements. 2) 60 MB web space 3) Uploading of .Net assemblies allowed (bin directory deployment). 4) Forms Authentication allowed (although I haven't used it yet, but is supported) 5) A very cool Control Panel. 6) A very good reputation. We have been relying on Brinkster's services for the last 3 months now and from personal experience, it is very good, reliable and fairly fast.
