Hi Sridhar, 
     Here is the solution for your problem. 
1.use Button's CommandName property to identify the control (also for all controls 
that are inside the Template) 
2. Don't Bind the DataGrid until you are done with logic that has to be performed 
when Button is invoked.Check Page.IsPostBack before binding Datagrid.Or u can very 
bind the Datagrid after ur logic (inside OnItemCommand method) 
This will work fine!
