You can use CONTAINS or even CHARINDEX and PATINDEX. All of them are used for searches 
and CONTAINS is much more rich, that's all.   We could not use an AND based check and 
always check for 4 values, since there could be combinations of 1, 2, 3 and 4 (and may 
change in the future too). The code that we finally agreed upon uses CHARINDEX, but it 
can be written using CONTAINS too, but the logic would be the same.   HTH, Srinivas
