The codebehind can be primarily used to trap client events based upon which the 'Controller class' would decide exactly which 'Model classes/methods' to call. In other words your web page and codebehind page together would be analogous to the 'View' in the MVC pattern. This way the View need not know how and when to call the 'Model'.
