From what I understood, I assume that you get the dataset from webservice and bind the data to controls. Once they change the data you write them to xml for smart client usage and you want the newly entered data to be appended to the existing data. I presume it is something like, you want to maintain history of the comments/usage. Here, what you can do is save the dataset to xml. And when you store the data to xml, you can run through the stored xml and append the corresponding xml changes to the stored xml. Hope that helps.
