Try 
adding " Select @avg" after your 
"SELECT @avg= SUM(UnitPrice)/COUNT(ProductID) FROM 
Northwind.dbo.Products WHERE CategoryID = @CategoryID
select * from products 
where CategoryID = 1" 
statement. 
 
And 
also write another Select statement in the same stored procedure. In your dotnet 
application, use dataset. And in the dataset, the result of the first select 
statement , say. select @avg will come in the first table - which you can access 
as ds.Tables(0) and the result of another select statement ( of the same stored 
procedure ) will come in another table of the same dataset, which you can access 
as ds.Tables(1).

                I have a procedure where @avg is declared as output 
                paramter and the procedure has two different select statments,i 
                need to display the value of @avg and the result of the second
