one thing i know is u can use 
smartnavigation=true it will take to previous asp page (even if there r 
postbacks in current page) when history.back is used.

                Dear All,
                 
                Can any one of u tell me how to move back to the earlier 
                pages in ASP.net. We can user java script or vb script to do 
                that. But problem is in my page some event will also be 
                occuring. So when i use the script i am moving to the previous 
                event and not the previous page.
                 
                Please tell me a solution.
