----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on BDOTNET
----------------------------------------------------------- From: comoxbc Message 1 in Discussion I have a peer-2-peer WinForm application that is running twice on a machine. The application has several methods, some of "client" and some are "Server" methods, but ultimately they call the same exe, the application that is running twice. Comm between the two instances is .NET Remoting!! I load the application the first time, and start the .NET Remoting service that enables other clients to call its methods. I also take an input parameter from an options screen, the path to a file, and set it to a class variable ( could be an instance variable ) in a class in remotable class of the application. I start the second instance of the application, set up the "Server" IP and port addresses in an options screen, and start calling the remotable methods. I have one method that just returns the seconds of the current time, to the client application, and displays them to the WinForm. That works fine. But I also call a remotable method that needs to use the path that was setup in the "Server" instance of the application. And this is where the trouble starts - it seems the instance of the class with this class variable, path, is not accessed by the client when calling the class with the same name on the server. So I was first using an instance variable, and the path was being returned as blank. Then I changed the variable to a class variable, but no luck either. I could always save the path to a file and then read it, but i wanted to just use the path that was in the path. any help is much appreciated. mark ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/bdotnet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
