hi Jacob yu can add the default row after yu have poulated the values from the DB.
You can fill like this ::
SqlCommand sqlCmdlanguage = new SqlCommand("getlanguages",sqlConn );
sqlCmdlanguage.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
SqlDataAdapter custDA = new SqlDataAdapter();
custDA.SelectCommand = sqlCmdlanguage;
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
dt.TableName="CustomerCategories";
// setting yur datasource
cbolanguage.DataSource=dt;
cbolanguage.DisplayMember=dt.Columns["languageName"].ToString();
cbolanguage.ValueMember=dt.Columns["language_ID"].ToString();
// Setting the Default Selected Row
DataRow workRow;
workRow = dt.NewRow();
workRow[0] = "0";
workRow[1] = "NO Preference" ;
dt.Rows.Add(workRow);
cbolanguage.SelectedValue =0;
