Hi Balaji,   There are numerous reasons why a query call from an application can 
timeout. Firstly, do you recieve a timeout error when executing the SP from teh Query 
analyzer window? Does the query take lots of time ... If yes, then you need to check 
out which are the statements that are consuming large amount of time. Use SQL Server 
Profiler for this activity.   Moreover, understand its very difficult to outline all 
the tuning techniques on one post. Here is a article I posted on my site sometime back
