There are many UML books in the market. One thing that you must be clear about is,
what you want to use UML for? If you want to learn the constructs of UML, then the
book by the authors of UML is a good place to start and is very informative. A more
concise version of that book called UML Distilled can also help you get started. If
on the other hand you are looking at designing systems with UML (possibly using the
Object Oriented Methodology), then look at Craig Larman's book titled Applied UML and
Patterns. This book explains only the constructs of UML that are relevant from a
software design point of view and is very good. HTH, Srinivas Sampath MVP - SQL
