Hi,

rags_rao said it correctly regarding how it works when you write the statements in the
way you have written

using 'as' keyword is good solution

Now, there is a clear diff between typecasting & tostring

typecast means conversion from type a to type b & vice versa (if both/either of the
types support it)

tostring - is meant for emitting meaningful info inside your class

eg
// code might not work, just wrote it in mail
class person
{
 int age;
 String name;
 public overrride toString()
{
 return "the name is " + name;
}
}

the String object returned by toString doesnt help to create a string object (which
will help to get back a person object)

If the person class supports operation of upcast/downcast to string, it should be
possible
