Is this a dedicated SQL Server? Are you on the latest service pack. Install SP3 as I 
remember there was a network trojan virun that could be the reason. What are the other 
processes that happen at this SQL Server. Are you running any types of maintenance 
jobs during this periods?   Check the number of connections open and the profiler 
trace to see the activity in the system. Profiler also calculates the CPU cycles 
required for the statements. Mark those which require maximum CPU cycles and debug the 
statement at that point.   Understand this is a generic statement, we need to have
