Hi Friends, Thanks for the help, I used ur suggestions in this way, it works
beautifully. Private Sub DataList1_ItemCreated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As
System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataListItemEventArgs) Handles DataList1.ItemCreated
If (DataList1.Items.Count = 0) Then
DataList1.ShowFooter = True
Else
DataList1.ShowFooter = False
End If
End Sub and i set the footer to show the "no records message".
