Hi Raghs, First of all the question is incomplete. Point to be known is where u r not 
able to access the dropdown list, whether in client side or in server side. And second 
thing is where u have added, looking to ur question i assume it should be a server 
side List control (repeater, gird etc).   1. To identify the selected item in client 
side      This is a tricky job of javascript. Since .Net renders controls in a 
beautivul fashion like          formName_ParentControl__ctl***_ControlID, where *** 
indicates the running numbers,     u have to find out this and then check in 
control.options method.   2. For server side programming     U have to find the 
control first, using parentcontrol.findcontrol("IDGoesHere") method and then get the 
selected value.   3. If u have done all these and everytime getting the value of the 
first record in the dropdown, then check at page load whether u r binding the combo.. 
always [i think in this case its happening like this, since the page calls the method 
everytime it populates, i am not sure 100% of this statement] then u need to handle 
this in the function, check for postback and then bind / not bind.   regards Scienty
