Hello,
I made a sample report showing customer name, order id, order amount. See eg below
Customer Order ID Amount
A 11 1000
A 22 2000
A 33 3000
A 44 4000
B 111 10000
B 222 20000
In the above eg, it repeats the Customer name. So I added a group section in the rpt
on Customer
So the report will look like
Order ID Amount
Customer - A
11 1000
22 2000
33 3000
44 4000
Customer - B
111 10000
222 20000
Now, I wanted to show the record no. which should change when the customer changes
It should show the rpt as below
Sr Order ID Amount
Customer - A
1 11 1000
2 22 2000
3 33 3000
4 44 4000
Customer - B
1 111 10000
2 222 20000
Is this a thing that you want
Create a formula field & put the following value in the formula text
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NumberVar sr;
WhilePrintingRecords;
If OnFirstRecord Then
sr := 1
else
If Previous({Customer.Customer Name}) = {Customer.Customer Name} Then
sr := sr + 1
Else
sr := 1;
sr
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will put 1, if the rpt is on record 1 or whenever the group field (customer name
here) changes
otherwise it increments the running no. by 1
