----------------------------------------------------------- From: _SQL_Vinod_ Message 11 in Discussion Hi Anoop, The behavior of that SQL statement does not adhere to ANSI SQL behavior, is not documented by Microsoft to be SQL Server's behavior, and is already known to cause unpredictable results - see PRB: Execution Plan and Results of Aggregate Concatenation Queries (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=287515). Adding to this, this feature is supported on SQL Server 2000 systems which are SP2 and above only. This is not supported on lower service packs. However, I don't really have a problem with someone using that 'trick' on an *ad-hoc basis* (it is faster than a cursor, and it is quicker to write than the loop) if one keeps in mind that its results may *not always be predictable*.
