I am not sure whether u r looking for this out put. Select Rownum, Name, Code from Emp; Where Rownum is a pseuodo column in Oracle. It will give you the out put as 1 asd 1021 2 bcd 1222 ........ ..... It will sort the records in the logical cursor and assign the rownums for each tuples. I am not soo sure abt the same in Sql server. If anybody knows the pseudocolumn in Sql server plz let me know..
