Hi:

Using 192.168.xxx.xxx will not work because it is an internal IP address.
Many of us are now familiar with NAT (Network Address Translation) which is
what is used to let multiple computers in connect to the internet by using
one connection such as a DSL or cable line. You could try port forwarding,
but I am not sure that it will work because the remote host (your Access
machine) needs to be listening on the port.

The MSDN article below explains how to setup a connection to SQL server over
the internet - a similar concept.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/adminsql/ad
_1_server_1zuc.asp

To be able to connect to your access db, try this:
1. Find out the External IP address of your network (router)
2. Set up IP forwarding on the router used by the Access machine. You can
use any unused TCP port. For example, try port 5800 (it is normally reserved
for use by VNC) the router should forward all port 5800 packets to the Ip
address of your Access machine.
3. Share the folder containing your access database - for now allow full
control, but you should set appropriate permissions when you are done
experimenting.

Now, from your SQL server, try to map a drive to the access folder, for
example, \\51.11.12.100:5800\myfolder\data\ or even just open the folder.
If you can see the folder you should be able to connect to the database as
well.
