properties are used to set value of a field in a class. normally i declare
property so that i can give access to private fields of my class. this adds
a security that u don't directly access field.

second i can use property to do validations. normally when you write
Object.x = 10 and you want to make sure that user does not enter value
above 5. you can;t do that check if x is a field , but if its is property
you can .

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards,
Jignesh Desai.
