Hi Shashi, A Web Service is application or business logic that is accessible using
standard Internet protocols. Web Services combine the best aspects of component-based
development and the World Wide Web Web services are software-powered resources or
functional components whose capabilities can be accessed at an internet URI.
Standards-based web services use XML to interact with each other, where as ASP.net
is the next generation of Microsoft's Active Server Page (ASP), a feature of their
Internet Information Server (IIS). ASP.net is different from ASP in two major ways: it
supports code written in compiled languages like C++, Visual Basic, and Perl, and, it
features server controls that can separate the code from the content, allowing WYSIWYG
editing of pages.
ASP.NET is a unified Web development platform that provides the services necessary
for developers to build enterprise-class Web applications.
 Regards, Jignesh Desai
