Hi, Those of you who have not been able to get your hands on Visual Studio .NET the
following are a list of great freeware tools for building .NET applications. 1. C#
Builder ( Personal Edition ) from Borland
(http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_csharpbuilder.html) Features:
Superb interface. Lots of similarity with VS.NET. Integrated help and
intellisense Integrated Debugger Supports all types of .NET Applications
As the name suggests, it only works for C# NET. 2. SharpDevelop from ISharpCode
(http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/Default.aspx) Features: Integrated
intellisense Supports Web Applications, Web Services and Windows forms based
applications. It works for C# as well as VB.NET. Supports all types of .NET
Applications Open source project. ( You can download the entire source code
and try out some interesting stuff ) A little buggy user interface.
3. ASP.NET Web Matrix Reloaded (http://www.asp.net)
Features: Cool IDE, similar look and feel to VS.NET It works for C# as
well as VB.NET. Integrated Server and FTP explorers. Supports only ASP.NET Web
Applications and Web services. No intellisense support All of the above are
for .NET framework 1.1. So go ahead and enjoy working with .NET for free. Cheers,
Abhisek
