I
have a problem in accessing registry through program in windows 2003. My
database connection details are stored in registry like database server name
(data source), database name (initial catalog), authentication,use rid, Password
etc. A vb component i.e. connection.dll try to access the registry to build the
connection string and gets the connection to database. Problem is when i use
this connection.dll in windows 2003 i get "type mismatch". If i use same dll in
windows 2000 i am able to get the connection. And i use another connection2.dll
which reads .ini file to get the connection string works fine in both the server
(2000/2003). I want to know is there any security problem in accessing registry
for win 20003. How can give access to registry for admin and user or client, its
remote access. Please let me know the security topics on win 2003.
