----------------------------------------------------------- From: RedSunBeer Message 1 in Discussion hello, I was just thinking (actually day dreaming) and was wondering about casting child class objects to their parent class objects (eg object o = "me too"). Normally the child class has more fields/properties than the parent class. So my questions are, what happens to the fields/properties of a child object that are not present in the parent object after they are (up) casted to the parent object type? if a child object from a group of related child objects was casted to it common parent object then can these parent object be (down) casted to another type of child object from the same group? i.e. can we do something like this Control objControl = TextBox; ListBox objList = (ListBox)obj; if yes why, if no why not? meanwhile i'll continue dream..... err sorry , thinking! ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/BDOTNET/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
