  well, as Saravana said dotnetbips.com will explain how to do bidirectional
sorting... now let me tell you how to add asc/desc indicator image in header.. it
is pretty simple after changing viewstate value in sortcommand event handler, you need
change header text based on sorting order and field like..... // Displaying
indicator image based on sorting
  for(int i =0; i<=AlertsDatagrid.Columns.Count-1; i++)
   {
      if(AlertsDatagrid.Columns[i].SortExpression == e.SortExpression)
      AlertsDatagrid.Columns[i].HeaderText = e.SortExpression + "<img src='" +
ViewState["sortdirection"].ToString() +"indicator.gif' valign='bottom' border=0>";
     else
      AlertsDatagrid.Columns[i].HeaderText =
AlertsDatagrid.Columns[i].SortExpression.ToString();
    } NOTE: In this case both SortExpression and HeaderText are same... - Kashi -
