Hi Bisht,   First of all DB independent apps tend to fizzle out after a certain scale. 
So if you are going in for a medium to enterprise level project, i would suggest that 
you stick to one DB provider.   Now coming to your question, First of all you need to 
make your DB layer in your code DB independent. I would suggest looking at the 
Microsoft Data Access Application Block (Abstract Factory) , It is a DB helper 
Application block which uses the AF pattern to abstract DB ops.   For the 
configuration part you can use either XML config files or the registry to determine 
which conn. string to use to connect to the DB.   One thing you will need to take care 
of is that there a lot of inconsistencies between the DBs itself, so you must test 
your DB implementations on all supported DBs before going ahead. Incompatibilities may 
arise in type definitions SP support, auto numbering etc.   Sijin Joseph
